Short Grey 2K USA interview on DailyGrommet

http://au.video.yahoo.com/watch/4175564/11238601

"Only 10 states left that have tracks now because the industry is declining..."

The US is different slightly to Aus in that dogs mainly live at kennels at the racetracks themselves. So closing down a track will leave up to 1000 dogs homeless if not managed properly.

Grey 2K's recent win for closing the Massachusetts track is progressive in that it is going to be closed over a timeline, so appropriate accommodation/etc for the dogs is organised, and workers have a chance to find other jobs without being "laid off instantly".

Do you think Australia will ever be without Greyhound Racing?

Greyhound Gathering 09

A Letter from Lisa...

Dear Hound-Lovers,

Just wanted to say 'Thank You' for coming along to our New Year Greyhound Gathering on Saturday. It was great to see you, and so nice to have so many people and Greyhounds get together. We had 33 hounds there which was fantastic - & I'm sure they all enjoyed spending time with so many other Greyhounds. All were incredibly well-behaved, as usual.

Friends of the Hound appreciate your support and it was terrific to have an inspiring and fun get-together with our members, adoptees, foster carers and friends. We are fortunate to have the support of Tony and Anne at Camp Tailwaggers who allow us the free use of their wonderful property and facilities for these occasions. Babette and Morgan were able to get some good footage and it was uplifting to see so many happy hounds. We hope to be able to organise a huge Greyhound picnic in the future with even more dogs and people present. I didn't get around to chat to everyone unfortunately, although I was hoarse by the end of the evening so must have managed to speak to most of you - and those that I didn't, I hope to catch up with next time!

Again many thanks.

Greyhounds make great pets!

Regards,

Lisa

p.s. anyone who took photos on the day can please email any good ones through - please resize them to under 200mb first (as silly me didn't end up getting my camera out of it's bag!
